Meet & Greet and Avatars!

First, I just want to say thank you to each of you who have signed up! There are 30 (and counting!) of you, some I know and a few new faces. I'm so excited to learn more about each of your businesses and I can't wait to grow together!

Next, I want to talk about avatars. An avatar is the image that shows up when you leave comments on different blogs and forums. Have you ever wondered why your photo doesn't show up when you leave comments on blog posts? There is a way to make sure you show up as yourself and not some weird blue circle! ;)

All you have to do is sign up at Gravatar! You are able to add multiple emails to the account and set avatars for each one. One of my favorite features is that once you set up an account your uploaded photo will show up in any comments you previously left. For instance, if Sarah goes to set up an account at Gravatar and uploads a photo it will show up in the comment she left on the Foil Stamping post! Your avatar will show up when posting on Wordpress, etc. blogs as well. Gravatar will even update your photos if you want to change your headshot down the road!

So, I want you all to head over and make sure you have an avatar and then, I would love if you would leave a comment introducing yourself, your business and what your biggest struggle along the journey has been so far. I want us to get to know each other better and I really want this to be a place we can grow and learn and I hope if you don't have a creative community local to you, that you will find your people here!

I'll go first! For those of you who are new around here, I'm Stephanie and I design and sell stationery and other paper/home goods. I'd say my biggest struggle on this journey is not having the funds I need to invest in really great product. I have had to put a lot of my ideas on the back burner because in order to get the pricing down enough for resale, I have to purchase quantities in the thousands. At this time, it's just not in the budget and those kind of numbers terrify me!

Now, it's your turn...

  • oops! I typed my email to fast and misspelled it… so no avatar. :( Trying again.

  • Howdy! I’m Kelly the creative and owner behind, Anchored by Love (llc). I’m a newbie! Just started my paper goods and design studio in July. Somedays I feel like I’m all over the place. To many ideas with not enough time. I have huge goals and dreams, just trying to take them one day at a time. My biggest obstacles, is marketing, finding printers, and staying true to my brand and values. I’m so excited to learn and grow with this group. Thank you, Stephanie!! :)

  • Hi! I’m Anna and I am a recent (as in 6 months recent) college graduate. I work for a web design company but my passion is graphic design. I started Bow & Arrow Design Co. as a side gig a couple months ago and I am loving all the success I have had so far. I like to focus on wedding stationery and event invitations, but I am starting to incorporate some personalized products into my lineup (monogrammed calendars, tumblers, keychains, etc). I’m working on building my website, but I’m currently running mostly off word of mouth and I realize that is not the best marketing tactic. I hope to one day have a storefront that provides a place to sell retail items as well as a place to create all of my paper goods. I am so excited to learn all that I can from Stephanie and all of you wonderful ladies here! Can’t wait to get started :)

  • Hey everyone! I’m Jennifer Faught and I run Stationery Academy. Stephanie is a dear, dear friend who has skyrocketed to success and I am so happy that she is sharing her knowledge with the industry. Her heart is so special and generous! Grateful to call her a friend. :) I also run a wedding stationery business called Something Detailed, but my true passion is coaching creative entrepreneurs and creating the SA conference twice a year. My biggest struggle is staying confident. I am grateful for community and guidance from peers! Can’t wait to chat with you all soon.

  • Hello, everyone! I’m Erica, the owner of Erica Hammer Calligraphy. I have worked very little the last few years, putting most of my energy into having babies #2 and 3. Once upon a time, I designed invitation suits and custom wedding maps. I’m ready to dive back in! I would like to design a strong line of cards and prints and start going the wholesale route. I’m not sure where to start! Marketing is something I need to work on. I’m SO looking forward to reading more about Stephanie’s break up with Etsy!
